With reference to Admiralty letter of 25th March

1927, CEinC.1343/27/17b, concerning the acceptance of

Narble Hall", Hong Kong, as an official residence for

the Commander-in-Chief of the China Station, I am

commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to

acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of

state for the Colonies, that consequent upon the death of

Lady Chater in March last, and in accordance with the

arrangements made in 1927, this residence is now being

transferred to the Admiralty.

The Commander-in-Chief, China, reports that His

Excellency the Officer Administering the Government of

Hong Kong, has requested, for the purpose of record, a

formal assurance that the Lords Commissioners of the

Admiralty will maintain "Marble Hall" in a proper state

of repair at Admiralty expense and will return it to the

Hong Kong Government in good order and condition.
